SAIC Motor's Jan-Feb sales surge 6.8% YoY to nearly 600,000 units
SAIC Motor released its latest sales data, reporting wholesale sales of 269,000 vehicles in February and a cumulative sales volume of 597,000 units in January and February, reflecting a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 6.8 percent.
Following a strong start in January, the group has maintained its leading position in the market. Among the results, its self-owned brands achieved robust growth, with SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle surging 44.8 percent YoY in sales and IM Motors posting an impressive 69.4 percent YoY sales growth in the two-month period; joint venture brands also showed strong signs of recovery, as SAIC- GM recorded a 9.4 percent YoY sales increase in Jan-Feb.
By advancing reform and innovation in depth and accelerating transformation and upgrading, SAIC Motor has continued to make breakthroughs in its self-owned brands, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and overseas operations, demonstrating the resilience and potential of its high-quality development.
Self-owned brands maintain strong momentum
In January and February this year, sales of SAIC Motor's self-owned brands reached 401,000 units, a 14 percent YoY increase, accounting for 67.2 percent of the company's total sales, up 4.3 percentage points from the same period last year.
Specifically, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle sold 139,000 units in the two months, soaring 44.8 percent YoY; MAXUS delivered 33,000 vehicles, a 4.4 percent YoY growth; and SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 206,000 units, sustaining its growth momentum. SAIC Motor's self-owned brands are making significant progress, laying a solid foundation for the group's overall development and growth.
NEV sales climb steadily
SAIC Motor's NEVs achieved cumulative sales of 157,000 units in Jan-Feb, a 6.4 percent YoY growth, solidifying its position as a leader in the NEV industry.
Its premium brands delivered outstanding performances: IM Motors saw a 69.4 percent YoY sales jump in the past two months, with cumulative deliveries of IM LS6 surpassing 100,000 units milestone.
SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle sold 50,000 NEVs in Jan-Feb, a staggering 334.7 percent YoY surge, and the MG4 has recorded monthly sales of over 10,000 units for five consecutive months; MAXUS sold 7,000 NEVs, a 11.6 percent YoY increase; SAIC-GM's NEV sales reached 9,000 units, surging more than 216.9 percent YoY; SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 70,000 NEVs, and the Huajing S pilot vehicle equipped with Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving technology has officially rolled off the production line, further solidifying SAIC Motor's position in the intelligent mobility landscape.
Overseas markets reach new heights
SAIC Motor has reported a rapid 48.9% year-on-year surge in overseas sales, with 204,000 vehicles sold in the first two months of the year. This industry-leading highlights the accelerating global presence of Chinese automotive brands.
The MG brand has retained its title as the top-selling Chinese brand in Europe for 11 consecutive years, selling 49,000 units in the European markets in January and February, a 16 percent YoY growth, with its historical cumulative sales volume crossing the one million mark – a milestone breakthrough for "China Intelligent Manufacturing".
IM Motors, which has covered markets across the five continents of the world, also took an important step forward in its global expansion by officially entering the United Arab Emirates and Tunisia markets, further strengthening its strategic layout in the Middle East and North Africa.
SAIC Motor is set to accelerate the launch of its new product matrix in the first half of 2026. This upcoming lineup includes a series of highly anticipated models such as the ROEWE i6, the MG NEV coupe, the IM LS9 Hyper, the IM LS8, the SAIC SHANGJIE Z7, the SAIC-GM-Wuling Huajing S, the SAIC VOLKSWAGEN ID.ERA 9X, the SAIC Audi E7X, and the SAIC-GM Electra E7.
